Azerbaijan and Sweden held bilateral political consultations in Baku
On 28 January 2026, bilateral political consultations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Sweden were held in Baku.
For this purpose, a delegation led by Ambassador Tobias Thyberg, Director of the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, paid a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
During the visit, the Swedish delegation held meetings with Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev, Representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments Elchin Amirbayov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Fariz Rzayev, and Director of the European Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mammad Talibov.
The discussions covered the current state and future prospects of political, economic, and humanitarian relations between Azerbaijan and Sweden, the progress of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as other international and regional issues of mutual interest.
Bilateral political consultations between the two countries are envisaged to be held on a regular basis in the future.
