Azerbaijan, Finland hold another round of political consultations

On May 7, 2026, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Finland have held another round of political consultations in Baku.

 

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Finnish delegation was headed by Sari Rautio, Director General of the Euro-Atlantic Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

 

During the consultations, the sides discussed political relations between the two countries, emphasizing the importance of sustaining continuous dialogue through reciprocal visits and meetings during international events.

 

The discussions further addressed the current state and development prospects of cooperation in the economic, humanitarian, and educational fields, including within the framework of international organizations. The officials also reviewed strategic energy and transport projects implemented through Azerbaijan's initiative and participation.

 

The meetings included a comprehensive exchange of views on the regional situation, the Armenia–Azerbaijan reconciliation process, and the large-scale restoration, reconstruction, and demining activities currently underway in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
