According to the Law on Citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a child born to a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan acquires the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The parents of the born child apply to the diplomatic missions and consulates of the Republic of Azerbaijan abroad.
Before registering the birth, the child's citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan must be determined.

Documents confirming the identity of the parents (identity card or passport)
Application form.
Birth certificate or extract issued by the state body registering the birth in Sweden, Norway and Finland. This certificate must be apostille stamped and translated into Azerbaijani and notarized.
Marriage certificate or certificate of paternity (such a certificate registered in a foreign country must be apostille stamped and translated into Azerbaijani and notarized).
Note: After determining the citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the birth registration is carried out in the following manner.

A written application addressed to the Embassy (A sample application is attached).

Note: If these documents are not submitted, the birth registration is carried out in accordance with the birth extract issued by the countries where the Embassy is accredited (Sweden, Norway and Finland).
Amount of state duty
There is no state duty for registering a birth and issuing initial certificates.
